Consultant Colorectal & General Surgeon

Mr Khalid Khan is a Consultant Colorectal Surgeon with a private practice based at Spire Elland Hospital and Spire Dewsbury Clinic in West Yorkshire. He specialises in the diagnosis and management of bowel and anal conditions, providing expert care for patients experiencing rectal bleeding, anal pain, skin tags, haemorrhoids, anal fissure, fistula, rectal prolapse, pilonidal disease, changes in bowel habit and abdominal discomfort.
He also offers assessment and surgical treatment of inguinal, umbilical, epigastric, incisional and other abdominal wall hernias.
As a JAG-accredited endoscopist, Consultant Colorectal Surgeon Mr Khalid Khan has extensive experience and has performed hundreds of endoscopic procedures. He provides colonoscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy and gastroscopy to investigate bowel symptoms, detect polyps and diagnose gastrointestinal disease.
In his NHS consultant role at Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust as Consultant Colorectal Surgeon, he manages both routine and complex colorectal conditions, including bowel cancer, inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis) and diverticular disease. He regularly performs major bowel resections using minimally invasive laparoscopic techniques. His practice also includes treatments such as rubber band ligation for haemorrhoids, THD procedures, haemorrhoidectomy, fistula surgery and modern pilonidal sinus procedures such as minimally invasive EPSiT.
He routinely performs open hernia repairs for groin, umbilical, incisional and other abdominal wall hernias.
As an established colorectal surgeon, he adopts a calm, clear and patient-focused approach. His priority is to ensure patients understand their symptoms, feel reassured and receive the most appropriate and effective treatment for their condition.
